Today we woke up and had breakfast at the hotel for the first time. It was great and I'm already looking forward to waking up tomorrow for more. The hotel also has free newspapers available in the lobby and I think I'll try to read the Kuwait Times (which is in English) each morning I'm here.
After breakfast we visited the Gulf University of Science and Technology. It was our first visit there as students but Dr. Fowler has been there on several occasions. In fact, multiple people walked up to him on campus as they recognized him and wanted to greet him.
We met the various people who will be our guides over the next couple of weeks. They led us on a tour of the campus where we saw things such as the amphitheater which will host graduation, brand new facilities for radio and television, a basketball court, fitness center, various classrooms, and the president's meeting room.
We met the university's President, Dr. Donald Bates, who is an alum of the University of Arkansas. He also has friends in Jonesboro and Little Rock and is well acquainted with our state. Halfway across the world and I still managed to talk about Razorback and Red Wolf football.
We had a great lunch after our visit to campus. After lunch we exchanged currency for the first time, and also walked around a few shopping centers and malls. It's interesting to see the logos and store designs for restaurant chains from the U.S. who are in Kuwait.
We also drove around the city some and absorbed some of the sights. Tomorrow we have more events in store. Today was merely an introduction.
